ERA

Hello everyone.
As the title suggests, this post is a story that ends today. During the past two years or so, I had the honor to spend time with you every day to talk about comics and share the peculiar universe which is the DC. However, since a couple of months and I do not have time to devote to this blog , but has been pulling drafts and articles that had reserved "just in case."
Héroe.Com has been a fantastic experience that allowed me to meet many great people, either through e-mail and comments, or in person. I will not enumerate all for fear of forgetting someone, but I appreciate that you have endured the tirades me during all this time you have left me messages of encouragement that more than one occasion helped me move forward.
This does not mean they will forget the comics. Nor does it mean that going to stop writing about them but just the opposite. In fact, the reason for not having time to write here is due to a personal adventure that has just begun and I will keep in touch with you in other media from next month.
A hug for all and see you on other planets .

After the controversy of 1948, Siegel Superman dealt with the condition not stated in the credits, and he had some stories that are classics today and we will discuss shortly in this section. The two episodes he wrote for Superman no. 133, the first of its new stage in DC, contained two of the characteristics of the "Era Weisinger, ie, review the past of the character and created a story implausible. In "How Perry White Hired Kent Clark, a newcomer to Metropolis Clark got a job at the Daily Planet by the trust of Lois Lane and a photo of his alter ego, Superman, which tricks properly. For its part, "Superman Joins the Army" reached the general character after proving their worth in the military, which he joined at the insistence of Captain John Grimes. Thinks To Write On A Wedding Card

AQUAMAN, THE MINI-SERIES OF 1986

The miniseries 1986, Aquaman made famous by the dancer's costume that looked the hero. He was one of the many attempts made to popular publisher a character who has never finished curdle among readers. It is also one of the few titles of this eternal second fiddle to the Justice League have been published in Spain. He did Ediciones Zinco many years ago and, well, let's say this article is dedicated to carrozones the DCU on the loose out there.

Planning return

In 1984, Dick Giordano , vice president of DC Comics, the publisher offered Neal Pozner the possibility of renewing any character at that time had no series own. The idea was to find the reasons why the hero in question was not as popular as Superman or Batman, and from there, do everything possible to become a star. Pozner thought Aquaman after ruling out other characters, so the thing that was already on the wrong foot.

After a long process of reflection, came up with some ideas which he presented to Giordano. Including modernization of the uniform, which had not changed and never enjoyed no iconic value, the new design was inspired by the costume of the Russian painter Léon Nikolayevich Bakst designed for the famous dancer Nijinsky of Balé Russian. He also wanted to delve into the history and geography of Atlantis and Aquaman put on adventures under the water because, he says, when he was in the area lost much of its potential. Giordano insisted that Pozner wrote the scripts for the series. For the picture, the publisher rejected a British newcomer to the United States called Alan Davis, who take charge Batman and the Outsiders . The choice was finally Craig Hamilton, who would be able to capture the price required Pozner's script.

The next step was to use Atlantis as a backdrop for the eternal fight between Aquaman and Ocean Master , his brother and arch enemy since the sixties. Although we've talked about the history of both around here, it goes without saying that the embodiment chosen was the pre crisis because there was no intention to renew for the event. Aquaman, or Arthur Curry, was the son of a lighthouse keeper and Atlanna of Atlantis. Hybrid origin powers he gave always caused the envy of Orm, the son of the lighthouse keeper and a human with whom he married after the death of Atlanna. While Arthur was enjoying the attention of his father, Orm was relegated to a second life embittered him and took him to swear revenge. With that perspective and with the rich mythology of Atlantis as a backdrop, beginning in February 1986, this miniseries that would deepen in their enmity.

History

Mera Aquaman and his wife lived at that time in Venice (California), a city that swept the Master of the Ocean powers that had not previously had. Traditionally, the villain had for their crimes with weapons of all kinds and how strange. However, Arthur would not have time to reflect because it required Vulk , the king of Atlantis. After the last contact with the surface world, his people were concerned about changes that did not quite assimilated and to finish complicate matters, someone had stolen an artifact called Royal Seal. Arthur gave Vulk a camouflage outfit to travel to the sister city of Na Orge Thierno, magicians whose inhabitants appeared to have committed the robbery. On the way, the protagonist was captured.

Orge In Thierno Na, met Nuada's sister, the queen of the city and former monarch herself. Also there was a theft, in his case it was the Lia Fail , object pointing to its bearer as sovereign, and Nuada was suspect. After fighting to death with a local monster named Sreng , Aquaman and his new friend fled the city in search of the two devices. On the way, the hosts were confronted with Ocean of Love, which turned out to be the thief.

After much digging, the evil Orm had found in an ancient Atlantean library parchment which spoke of six glasses that contained the old magic of his nation, among them were the Royal Seal and the Lia Fail. Gradually, the gathering was to become a powerful wizard. After recounting the origin Nuada, his brother and his eternal enmity, Aquaman decided to stop at the level of magic help of his new friend. In the end, was the love of Arthur who destroyed his brother, who lost and gave him the power of crystals.

consequences.

The truth is that the miniseries had little impact well beyond the most superficial, ie, the new Aquaman uniform. And not long before out of the way, of course, happened in 1988 Aquaman Special. Pozner was detailed to redirect the source of Arthur and his brother to give them a great consistency, and that the publisher did not intend to renew the character with Crisis on Infinite Earths . It may not have done had it been successful miniseries but in the end, Aquaman got a new home filled with retroactive revisions since 1989.
